How long can I expect the finish to last? With the correct preparation and application procedures, you can expect the finish to last many years'. It is very important to ensure that the surface is sanded exceptionally well. When sanding the surface, you want to make sure that you get rid of the shine. You want a good adhesion of the coating to the surface, so the better the sanding is done, the better the adhesion.Back to Top |

Can I change the color of my avocado green tub to white?Yes, you can use Tubby to change the color of your surface. The preparation and application is the same whether changing from a color to white or white to a color. When changing a surface from a color to white, and when applying the first coat of 1/3 of the mixed coating and hardener, you will most likely see some of the color showing through. When applying the second coat, it will cover the color completely.Back to Top |
Can I use Tubby to refinish my tile surface.Yes, but make sure that all the tile is in a good condition. If any of the tile is cracked, chipped or broken, either repair or replace before refinishing with Tubby. Also, make sure that the grout is in a good condition. When refinishing tile with Tubby, it seals the grout in, so you do not want to have to apply the grout after refinishing.Back to Top |
My tub/surface has been refinished before, can I apply Tubby on top of the previously used product.No. We recommend you strip the previously applied product off the surface before applying Tubby. If your surface is cast iron, pressed steel, ceramic tile, you can use Kleen Strip. If your surface is cultured marble, fiberglass, ABS plastic or any other type of plastic surface, then you need to use 120 grit wet/dry sandpaper and sand the previously applied product off the surface before applying Tubby.Back to Top |
How many kits do I need to use to refinish my tub/shower unit? One Tubby kit covers one regular 5ft. bathtub or approximately 30 square feet.Back to Top |
Can I use Tubby on my mobile home / R.V. tub, shower or sink?Yes. Often, these tub/shower units are smaller than a regular 5ft. bathtub. One kit covers approximately 30 square feet.Back to Top |
What can I use to clean the newly refinished surface? We do not recommend any cleaning products that contain harsh chemicals or acids. We recommend "Clean Shower" (available at most supermarkets). Most cleaning products available contain harsh chemicals/acids which etch the surface making it porous. Once the surface becomes porous, it will lose the shine and no amount of cleaning will restore the shine. You will have to refinish the surface again to obtain the new-look shine.Back to Top |
How often should I clean the surface? We recommend you clean the surface after each use. Usually the soap collects on the surface, making it dull. Once the build-up of soap has been removed, the shine will once again be evident. We recommend you use a 3M Delicate Duty / Tub & Tile foam pad and Clean Shower. Continue working at the surface to remove the build-up of soap, etc.Back to Top |
Can I use a rubber anti slip liner/mat on the surface?Yes. The rubber liner/mat can only be used 10 days after the product has cured. It is vitally important to remove the liner/mat after each use. If it is left on the surface indefinitely, after an extended period of time when you attempt to lift it, the mat/liner would have sunctioned to the surface and the coating will pull up with the liner/mat.Back to Top |
Does the roller leaves marks, streaks on the surface.No. Included in the Tubby kit are 2 moltoprene foam rollers. These foam rollers are specially designed to work with our product and do not leave lines, marks, streaks, etc. on the finish. Your finish should be a high-gloss, bright white finish.Back to Top |
Can I use a spray gun to apply Tubby?Yes. You will need to use a high volume, low pressure spray gun. The only thinner/reducer we recommend is Butyl Acetate. Various different types of thinners/reducers were tested and the only one that did not have an adverse affect with our product was Butyl Acetate.Back to Top |
